Parish Church of São Sebastião
The Parish Church of Ponta Delgada was built between 1531 and 1547, on the site of a small Hermitage dedicated to São Sebastião.
The exterior includes notable Manueline and Baroque doorways. The interior has been enriched by sculpted works in local cedarwood and other rare woods such as ebony. Key items include the 17th and 18th century statues, the 17th-century azulejo tile panels and Jacaranda wood furniture in the Sacristy, and a rich collection of 16th century embroidered vestments, of gold on tapestry.
