Museu da Água da EPAL
Museums and Palaces
The Barbadinhos Steam Pumping Station, the site of the museum, is an 18th-century industrial installation, and a rarity of industrial archaeology. Among the exhibits are large steam engines, pumps and other industrial items, meticulously preserved, in a museum concept that has received several awards.
In the permanent Exhibition Hall there is a historical retrospective of the city's water supply from the Romans to the present day.
Other components of the Water Museum are found at monuments and buildings of the 18th and 19th centuries that are inextricably linked to the history of the supply of water to the city of Lisbon: Aqueduto das Águas Livres, Reservatório da Patriarcal and Reservatório Mãe d'Água das Amoreiras.
