The Melo Alvim House was built in 1509 based in a Manueline style by the storekeeper Pedro Pinto, brother-in-law of the well-known vianense navigator João Álvares Fagundes.
On one hand, the primitive architectonic, historic and cultural exuberance was criteriously preserved during the restoration campaign to adapt the house to an inn.
On the other hand, details were enhanced and environments were created to lead the host to a visit along several periods of Portuguese architecture: the Manueline, the ´Chão` style, the Baroque and the Romantic.
Indoor ambience is based on sobriety and on a constant combination of light and material chances, emphasizing a spacial character which does not neglect functionality and cosiness.
