In a year in which the 50th anniversary of one of Portugal's political moments is celebrated, Praça da República, in Alcoutim, hosts the outdoor exhibition "The Forbidden Fruit is the Most Desirable". It addresses the period of the Estado Novo (from 1926 to 1974), where there were a set of prohibitions that, to this day, seem unreasonable to us. Guided by the state, they survived through a tight system of surveillance and social denunciation. The Carnation Revolution put an end to this oppressive and limiting political system, creating a new world for Portugal. A new social order that was called democracy.
