The Setúbal International Theater Festival - "Festa do Teatro" began in 1995 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Teatro Estúdio Fontenova. Since then, the Festival has grown more and more, and its program includes reference shows by national and international companies, as well as emerging projects and artists.

The Festival, which this year runs from August 21 to 30, also features music, exhibitions, film screenings and debates, most of which discuss the role of theater in society.
