Siza, beyond Póvoa

Siza, beyond Póvoa
Events
Álvaro Siza Vieira is one of the greatest names in contemporary architecture, known for creating works that combine poetic simplicity with a deep sensitivity to place.
In the refurbished Diana Bar, a branch of the International Museum of Contemporary Art, under the title "Siza, Beyond Póvoa", not only the well-known Beires and Alves dos Santos houses - the heart of this exhibition - are celebrated, but also the projects that informed them, such as the patio of Casa Rocha Ribeiro, in Maia, or the sash windows of Casa Alcino Cardoso, in Moledo.
Álvaro Siza began to rethink the introverted nature of his architecture in Póvoa de Varzim, whose deconstructivism arose from the desire for a more frank dialog with the surroundings. The apparent ruins are a kind of manifesto on the identity of emptiness.
