Roots and Horizons: Isabel Meyrelles
Roots and Horizons: Isabel Meyrelles
Events
The Matosinhos Municipal Gallery Museum is hosting "Roots and Horizons", an exhibition that marks Isabel Meyrelles' symbolic return to her homeland. Born in 1929 and living in France since the 1970s, the sculptor, poet and translator is one of the rare female voices of Portuguese surrealism. A friend of Natália Correia, with whom she founded the mythical Botequim in Lisbon, Meyrelles left her mark on Portuguese culture. The exhibition brings together terracotta and bronze sculptures that reveal the dreamlike power of her work, where memory, poetry and freedom intersect. A tribute to her career and the creative spirit that has always guided her.
