Marinha Grande is hosting the 11th edition of Filipe Ferreira's Nativity Scene, considered to be the largest traditional moving nativity scene in the central region. The installation covers more than 65 m² and includes more than 2000 handmade figures, recreating the Birth of Jesus and various scenes from Portuguese daily life. Animation is provided by 50 mechanisms that bring to life mills, ranches, traditional crafts and moving characters. Filipe Ferreira, an accountant, spent around 1,500 hours on the construction and more than 120 hours on the assembly, supported by a team of six collaborators. The result is a Christmas cultural landmark for the region.
